50 Celebrity Baby Names in the Spotlight
50 Celebrity Baby Names in the Spotlight |
|
The latest explosion of made-up and unique baby names among celebrity parents is taking the tabloids by storm. The UK Times Online has published a list of what they pinned as the “50 Craziest Celebrity Baby Names.”
Take the national Social Security data on popular baby names, and one can find unique and made-up names taking over the charts. With names such as Nevaeh (heaven spelled backwards) and Brooklyn skyrocketing in national popularity, it is a wonder if the celebrity baby names thought of as “crazy” today will even inspire a wink a few years down the line. And what is it that labels these names as “crazy” anyway? It may simply be because Fifi Trixibell (Bob Geldof and Paula Yates) is a long cry away from Jennifer or Samantha, but with more and more parents giving their babies untraditional names, the entire way we think of the genre may be about to change.

![]() I love unique names!!

I love the names that celebrities name their kids!! Those names are unique and beautiful, and I can't see why people don't like them. When I adopt my kids, I'm considering names like Tallulah, Rumer, Sarafina, Sage, Joss or Luna. I want my children to have different names, not boring, typical ones like Jen, or Rebecca.

I'm naming my daughter Kayle Sandi (Sandi for my mum) and Ashton.... I want to honour my dad with my son's name but it's Albert and I seriously cannot put my kid through that... so if anyone has a variation of Albert then suggestions would be much appreciated!!

dont get me wrong i love my name, but come on it's very common. i have not had a child yet but i plan to and i have also lost 2 of my 5 siblings both being sisters so i would love to work there names into my future childrens. so i think unique names are great but meaningful and original can be beautiful too.

Im a huge fan of names not found in the top 1000. Sure, some of these names are definately a bit "out there", but odds are these celebrity offspring will be changing their names by the time they are 16 anyways. My daughters names are Novalea Faith and Irelyn Grace. Not too off the wall, but not common either. My husband and I are expecting our third girl in July but have yet to come up with a name.
original names are great

common names are niice, but when everyone has the same name it can get confusing. I don't have any kids yet but babies are always popping out in my family. Some of them have normal, strange and original names.my name is of greek origin, but i am not greek i think you can name your child whatever you want as long as you like it!
My name is . . .

I agree that some, not all, of the names listed are truly without merit. I am surprised at how many people make remarks about names like Poppy, Shiloh, and Willow to name, but a few, and no one mentions the name Phinneaus that Julia Roberts chose for her son as being off the wall. Bluebelle and Poppy are names of flowers as are Rose, Lily, Iris and Violet yet no one finds these names odd. Names like Ivy and Holly are fine but Willow and Rowan are deemed unacceptable.
I like traditional just as well as unique names. ...

Our history of strange names has come along way... my mother is tyler paris, I am Vadra, my brother is Wraith Vaughn-Lain, and my little one to be (in Nov.) is going to be Ocean Phoenix. I think it's all in the person you raise, thier confidence level and letting them make the name thier own.

Among the lucky originals to top the list are Audio Science (Shannyn Sossamon), Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily (Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence), Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee and Beth Riesgraf), and Jermajesty (Jermaine Jackson and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza). No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale are parents to Kingston and Zuma Nasta Rock (pictured). But with all the spotlight on the new baby trend in celebrity circles, it can be easy to miss a national wave that is taking the baby naming game to a whole new level.
