Best Retro Celebrity Baby Names of 2011

Baby name trends in Hollywood seemed to have gone a little old school in 2011.  Whether it is a longing for simpler times, naming after a grandparent or loved one, or just for the love of all things vintage and retro, there is a definite trend toward older baby names.

David and Victoria Beckham welcomed their first girl to their brood of boys and named her Harper.  Inspired by literature, this name is definitely a throw back to the 1950's. Other baby girls who joined the ranks this year included Christina Applegate welcoming Sadie in February, Jennifer Connelly having Agnes and Tina Fey's sweet Penelope joining their family in August.

Not to be outdone by the girls, in June Selma Blair welcomed little Arthur to her home. Other baby boy names making a comeback are Toni Collette's baby boy Arlo, and Penelope Cruz introducing her own Leonardo.

Celebrities aren't the only ones naming their babies old time names.  Names like Emmett, Elliott, Oliver, Nora, June, Alice, and Eleanor also seem to be on the rise. When coming up with a name for my 5th baby in April, we wanted something traditional and not very common.  Many of the baby names I had always loved, that were never very popular, I found were suddenly gaining more popularity.
