Bryce Dallas Howard gives birth to baby girl

Congratulations are in order for Bryce Dallas Howard. The actress gave birth to a baby girl last Thursday! The happy news was announced via Twitter on Saturday by Bryce's dad, famous producer and director Ron Howard.

"Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel. Born Jan 19 2012 8lbs 6oz. Bryce & Baby B are spectacular. Daddy Seth & brother Theo are beaming ear to ear :-)" the proud grandpa, 57, tweeted. "Beatrice's arrival is hugely exciting for our family Thanks for all the kind tweets folks."

Beatrice Jean is the second child for Bryce and hubby Seth Gabel, who wed five years ago. The welcomed son Theo, now 4, in February 2007.

Last year, Bryce opened about about the struggles she faced after Theo was born. The actress, 38, told Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP blog that she had suffered from postpartum depression. "I felt I was failing at breast feeding. My house was a mess. I believed I was a terrible dog owner. I was certain I was an awful actress," Bryce said.

Family and friends encouraged The Help actress to seek professional treatment. Bryce said she also read Down Came the Rain by Brooke Shields and described the book as a "revelation."
