Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of 19 Kids and Counting fame have decided to enter the political arena with their endorsement of a controversial Presidential candidate.

Names of American Presidents

The reality TV family have thrown their support behind the super-conservative Rick Santorum, even though the former Pennsylania senator is not "perfect."

“You’re not going to find the perfect candidate unless it’s Jesus Christ,” said Jim Bob as he hit the campaign trail with 12 of his 19 kids.

“[Santorum's] somebody that doesn’t take a poll to know where he stands,” the reality star told a crowd in Des Moines. “I’m asking families, Christians all over America, to get behind Rick Santorum for the next President of the United States.

“He is somebody that goes and really just votes from his heart and votes on his convictions,” Jim Bob continued, “votes on things based on the Constitution of the United States and the Bible. And that’s the kind of man we want to support.”

Despite support from the well-known Duggars, Santorum is facing harsh criticism after he opposed Medicare expansions, saying that he doesn’t want to make “black people’s lives better by giving them other people’s money.” (Interestingly, 84 percent of Iowa residents on public assistance are Caucasian and 9 percent are African-American.)

Joining the Duggars in supporting Santorum are News Corp magnate Rupert Murdoch and former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
