Ellen Pompeo Welcomes Daughter Stella Luna

It’s a girl for Ellen Pompeo and husband Chris Ivery. The new baby, Stella Luna Pompeo Ivery, was born on September 15 and is the first child for the couple.

Pompeo, 39, plays Meredith Grey on the ABC hit drama Grey’s Anatomy. She and 41-year-old Ivery, a music producer, wed in 2007.

Stella is a name of Greek origin and means “Star.” The Latin name Luna means “Moon.” Stella Luna is also the title of a classic children’s book.

Pompeo’s co-star, Katherine Heigl, just adopted baby girl Naleigh from Korea. The new season of Grey's Anatomy starts September 24.
