Jillian Michaels on the road to Adoption

Jillian Michaels has just announced she is expecting to adopt a baby girl.

Jillian is well known for being the fitness trainer that accepts no excuses.  Her no holds barred approach has helped countless individuals turn their lives around to be healthier and stronger.

She caused quite a stir in 2010 when she told Women's Health Magazine that she didn't want to have children because of what it would do to her body.  The backlash Michaels received was quite severe.  She later clarified her statement in an article in the LA Times by saying her words were misconstrued and that she was "just crushed." She tells the paper that being misquoted and then criticized was, in part, painful because her message to women has long been to strive to be their fittest selves and not stick to media images of what their bodies should look like.

With that ugly part of her life behind her, she has announced to Access Hollywood, "I’ve been matched with a little girl. But, I now have to get her home… It could take up to a year to get her home.”

Jillian said that she met her future daughter on a trip to Haiti. "I went over to visit orphanages and I ended up falling in love with this little girl, and by the grace of God, I got matched up with her. So now, it’s just a matter of trying to get her home and anything can happen and fall through or fall apart, so it’s kind of premature for me to say it, but that’s where it’s at."

Jillian isn't the only single parent to adopt. 

To be honest I do worry about the body messages Jillian would give to a young girl.  As a woman who doesn't want to have a baby because of what it would do to her body, I hope that she can find a way to give this daughter a healthy body image.

Regardless of my feelings on the matter, I wish her the best and hope her adoption goes through without any problems.
