Famous reality mom Kate Gosselin has a new gig... and this one's not on TV!

Kate has desperately tried to hang on to her 15 minutes of fame. Her TLC reality TV show, Kate Plus 8, (a spinoff of the hit series Jon & Kate Plus 8) was not picked up for another season. While the controversial mom does make some money for speaking engagements, her primary source of income right now is her blogging gig with CouponCabin.com.

Now Kate has decided to take her famous face out to her fans. In August, Alice Travel is offering a week long Caribbean adventure featuring Kate Gossline as “cruise director” and hostess. While the celebrity cruise idea is usually well-received, the Kate Gossline promotion has not yet caught on with the general public.

Over 45 percent of those surveyed by Cruise Critic  said they’d cancel their cruise if they found out that Kate would be on board. “What a great way to empty a cruise ship! I’d cancel if booked,” wrote one of over 600 respondents on Cruise Critic‘s Facebook page. Bookings are now available, with premium suites going at a rate of up to $5,550, and they’re not selling quickly.

If rooms are still available when the ship sets sail, Kate may decide to bring along her brood of eight children: Cara, Mady, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel. She’ll want to bring the nanny too, as the former Dancing With The Stars contestant will be plenty busy with cocktail parties, brunches and private dinners, photo shoots, Q&A sessions and a book signing. And for an extra $700, Kate will provide family-style games and activities for the passengers. What could be more fun than sitting through a crafting tutorial with Kate Gosselin?

Jo Piazza, author of Celebrity Inc.: How Famous People Make Money says,”The celebrity cruise circuit used to be one of the only appearance fees a celeb could get, before the halcyon days of $100,000 nightclub payments. Today it is seen as a Hail Mary pass for a paycheck.”

Kate joins the likes of Kid Rock, the BackStreet Boys and New Kids on the Block, who rely on celebrity cruises as a big portion of their annual salary. Unfortunately for Kate and the cruise line, the reality star doesn’t have any talents to draw in a crowd. “Learn a new craft from the professional herself,” advertises the cruise website. “Doesn’t Kate always have the best ideas!?”
