What could be more American than naming your baby boy after a U.S. President? Whether you like classic names like George and William or more conventional names like Kennedy and Reagan, you’ll find it here on our alphabetical lists of all of the Presidents.

A

Three U.S. Presidents had first names that began with the the first letter of the alphabet. None of these important leaders had a middle name, and each of them has a surname that would make a trendy first name. While we're on the subject of As, consider the last names of Chester Arthur, John Adams or John Quincy Adams as a name for a baby boy.

B

Our current President has a B name as did our 23rd.

C

The nation's C-named Presidents boasted old-fashioned monikers. President Arthur's first, middle and last names are also first names. Other C names inspired by Presidents are Carter and Clinton.

D

Just one President had a name that began with the letter D -- and his middle name did, too.

F

Both of our F-named Presidents were Franklins. President Pierce's surname would make a very cool first name. So would Gerald Ford's!

G

Three of the nation's five G-named Presidents were called George. G-surnames to consider as first names are Garfield and Grant.

H

Harry is a name that's enjoyed renewed popularity thanks to Harry Potter. Herbert, on the other hand, remains relatively uncommon. Presidential last names beginning with H include Harrison and Hayes.

J

Ten American Presidents had J names -- either James or John. All of the J last names of Presidents -- Jackson, Jefferson and Johnson -- are suitable for first names. Other great first names from this batch include Madison, Monroe, Knox, Abram, Earl, Carter, Adam, Quincy, Tyler, Fitzgerald and Kennedy.

L

The only President with an L name was our 36th. It has never been a popular name.

M

Martin and Millard are the types of names passed down from generation to generation. Monroe (as in President James Monroe) is another M option.

  • Martin Van Buren, 8th President: 1837-1841
  • Millard Fillmore, 13th President: 1850-1853

R

You're more likely to see these Presidents' surnames used as baby boy names. The last name Roosevelt can also be used as a first name.

T

Theodore and Thomas are classic boy names, as is Taylor (as in President Zachary Taylor).

U

Ulysses and Simpson have never been popular, but the name Grant is on the rise.

W

The name William is a perennial favorite, but Warren and Woodrow are less used as baby boy names. From this group, however, are the names Henry, Harrison, Howard, Jefferson and Wilson

Z

Both the first and last names of our 12th President are common baby boy names.
