As the leaves begin to turn, there is no shortage of babies names inspired by the Autumn season. Go beyond the name Autumn and explore baby names inspired by Autumn holidays: Columbus Day, Halloween, Election Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, and Hanukkah.

Columbus Day

Labeling your Autumn babe with a name inspired by Columbus such as Christopher or America can pay homage to the renowned explorer. Other monikers, such as Pinta, Nina, and (Santa) Maria after Columbus’ ships would also show your respect for the maritime explorer.

Columbus’ children Diego and Fernando are also surnames worthy of consideration if you are looking for a name inspired by Columbus Day, as is the Admiral of the Ocean’s wife’s name, Filipa.

Halloween

The Halloween holiday can inspire names that are delightfully frightful from witches to wizards as well as labels that are as sweet as Halloween treats.

Look to names of witches, like Glinda and Sabrina, or the queen of scream, Elvira, or, names of wizards, including Merlin and Oz, and any of the Harry Potter characters from Ron to Hermione, for Halloween-inspired monikers.

The name Jack is a holiday-inspired label for your little pumpkin. Or, opt for a name that will be a treat such as Candy, Reese Ruth, Kit, Henry, Mike or Ike.

Election Day

Honor those who have won the race on election days past by naming your pea in the pod after a past president or first lady. Or, name your little one after one of the kids who called the White House their home, like Abigail, Andrew, or one of these other White House Kids.

Veteran’s Day

Veterans from your family or famous patriot names such as George, Robert, Douglas, and Audie offer admirable monikers for your baby-to-be.

Or, the names Dwight, Ulysses, Grant, George, and Washington not only represent past presidents and well-known war leaders, they are also an honorable namesake for your baby-to-be.

Thanksgiving

There’s no guarantee that your youngster won’t have his moments when you call him a turkey, but names inspired by Thanksgiving like Mary, Elizabeth, John and Joseph come straight from the Mayflower.

Harvest baby names include masculine labels like Garner which means "to gather grain," or Demetrius, which means "follower of Demeter," who was the Greek goddess of harvest. For girl harvest baby names, you may want to consider Aluma, meaning “maiden of grain at harvest,” or one of the many Fall spices such as Sage, Cinnamon, or Ginger.

Hanukkah

Although the Hanukkah holiday is typically associated with Winter, the festival of lights occurs during the tail end of Autumn. Labels inspired by this Jewish holiday may include Menora, Uriela, Liora, and Nesiah for girls, or, Orel, Aner, or Eron for boys.

Finding the perfect fall surname can be easier when you look to the Autumn holidays. Still searching for the perfect baby name inspired by Autumn? Check out more baby names inspired by fall harvest and fall foliage.
