Naming a little person you have yet to meet face-to-face is no small feat. But, that doesn’t mean you haven’t dreamed of what your little guy or gal’s personality just might be like.  Check out our list of cool baby boy names and cool baby girl names.

Perhaps she will have your sense of style, or maybe he will have your team captain quality. But, no matter what his or her interests may be, tagging your tot with a cool name is something you don’t have to guess about.

The range of names that exude the cool factor have luckily expanded from names like Elvis and The Fonz to Gwen and Gavin. If you’re looking for a label that literally translates into cool qualities, you may want to try a title that shows strength, like Aaron, Ethan, Guillermo or Liam for a boy, or Bryna , Gertrude, Mina, or Velma for a girl. Or, try the name Mu on for size for either gender, a Chinese name meaning admired. Perhaps the Japanese name Reizo, meaning “cool” is the surname for your baby-boy-to-be.

If you’re looking for more names that shout cool kid (or even cool parents), from sports-centric monikers to names that stand the test of time, you’re sure to find the perfect cool crowd identity for your kiddie.

i would love some help thinking of baby names for the little bundle of joy we will be expecting in the next 5 months. we are not sure if its a boy or girl yet but already have a little girl (my partner's) called Skyla and would love a name for either boy or girl that works well with that. we also have the middle names picked out already, for a girl it will be ann and if its a boy it will be shane, two quite common names, so i would like the first name to be very unique.

Here's some names I like w/ those middle names....Karis Ann, Desiree Ann, Celeste (comes from celestial..starry sky) or even Starla. I believe Estelle means star. Shane is a great name but a difficult middle name. How about Barkley, Zepher, Dakota. Good Luck.

STOP naming babies "Melina"
written by Amanda, October 19, 2010
I just have to say, please stop naming your kids Melina! I hear it so often and it just makes me cringe. I am a nurse and the word melena (pronounced the same and Melina) by definition means: "The passage of black, tarry stools composed largely of blood" and it is the worst thing that you have ever smelled in your life. Don't let your kid have a name like that!

Love seeing the names that other kids in school would pick. Great ones and then you know the other kids at school would automatically have something they like about your child when the time comes.

@christine angelLast Year I went to Japan, as well as had some stay here as part of an exchange. Here is a list of first names of the males in the group from JP: Hiroaki, Hayato, Tomoya, Fumihito, and Kaoru. I'm quite fond of the name Hayato, but maybe that was just because the boy with that name had a wonderful personality. Good luck. (:

I like unique names, but not too over the top. My 5 month old is named Carson and if I ever have a girl, I would either name her Aria, Brylee or Faelin.
