Are some baby names more elite than others? Do you have to drive a fancy car and have loads of disposable income to name your daughter Charlotte or your son Henry? What makes a name elite anyway? Read on to discover the top 25 elite boy names and the top 25 elite girl names!

baby in pink tutuAccording to Pamela Redmond Satran, author of a number of popular baby name books, the following list of 50 names are the most sought-after by the high class folks from shore to shore. To be sure, these names do sound quite classy and pleasing to the ear, although parents of all social classes are indeed picking these names.

Many are classic names -- names which, before, might have been considered a little old fashioned or perhaps "grandma or grandpa names." Classic names, however, are enjoying a surge in popularity and parents from all over are choosing them for their children. Girl names such as Stella, Amelia and Violet are beautiful names that are becoming more attractive this year to moms and dads, and boy names such as Jack, Leo and Silas are good examples of sought-after classic names as well.

It's interesting to note that several of these elite names were also chosen by some red hot Hollywood stars. Jennifer Garner, for starters, has seemingly contributed two names to the list -- her daughters are named Violet and Seraphina. Julia Roberts has a son named Phinnaeus (with a nickname Finn, and both appear below) and a son named Henry. Michelle Williams and the late Heath Ledger named their daughter Matilda.

Satran also noted that the boy names on the list deviated more from the Social Security Administration's list of the most popular baby names in America.

Do you think privledged families can "get away" with a more unusual name for a boy? Do these names sound pretentious to you are are they names you've considered? If you ran into a boy named Atticus or a girl named Imogen would you assume they were from wealthy families?

While you might not judge a book by its cover -- or in this case, a person by her name -- people do tend to form judgments about a person based on the moniker her parents chose for her when she was born. You might avoid a name that sounds, to your ears, trashy or low class, you might not think twice about choosing one of these so-called elite names. Whether you think this list is bogus or right on, it does touch on modern baby-naming trends!
