L stands for love, life and laughter. What a perfect letter to lead the latest baby name trend! L baby names are taking nurseries everywhere by storm, from celebrity babies to yours. Keep reading for our list of the best L baby names out there for both boys and girls -- from trendy to classic and traditional to maybe even a little obscure.
Parents of boys often like strong-sounding names and those that are more traditional than trendy. However, a current popular trend (among all baby names, not just L names) sees a surname (or last name) that has made a successful jump and is now commonly used as a first name, such as Landon or Lincoln. Unusual boy names are also sought after by new parents, and Lennox and Lorcan certainly qualify. Old-fashioned names are also making a comeback, such as Leo and Leland. Lucas and Luke are perennial favorites, and Liam and Logan are two of the trendier names on our list. Celebrity "L" Baby NamesSome great "L" baby names were also chosen by celebrity moms and dads. Lucy is the name of Nancy Grace's daughter, while Luc is Peter Gabriel's son. Natalie Morales named her boy Luke and Matthew McConaughey's son is named Levi. Tori Spelling's son is named Liam and actress Constance Marie has a daughter named Luna. Kate Moss has a Lila and Julianne Moore has a Liv. Celebrities themselves also inspire naming, and there are plenty of L names to go around. Lauren Bacall, Liv Tyler, Loretta Switt, Lorenzo Lamas, Lance Bass, Luke Wilson, Leann Rimes, Lindsay Lohan, Linda Cardellini and Leonardo DiCaprio are just a few. "L" baby names are fun and friendly. Chances are you have friends (or are yourself) named Lisa, Lori, Laura or Lynn. The names on our list continue that trend but with a more modern twist. For parents of girls, giving babies nature names (like Lilac) is definitely on the rise as are names from the past (Lila or Lillian are good examples), names from different cultures (such as Lux and Lucia) and place names (like London). Names that are inspired by the laurel plant (Laura, Lauren and Laurel) remain popular as well and don't tend to sound dated as the child grows up.
