I absolutely love the name and its meaning. Our 18 year old son's name is Alan. He loves the name and goes strictly by the name Alan and not Al. I hate the short form, but it is possible to keep the full name. My son wouldn't want anyone to think his name is Albert. I also like the fact that not too many young children have that name.
