Having this name is definitely a conversation starter. My name was also chosen because of Anissa Jones--my mom thought it was pretty. However, I prefer the i to be pronounced as a short e.

Well I was named after a clerk lady at Dillard's that my father liked the name. He asked the clerk how to prounounce it. I don't prounouce it like others. I prounounce as Anissia, but i spell it Anissa which is to me the same thing. I'm 20 yrs old and I have thought i was the only one with that name, but i am finding out that more people are being named that! I love my name!!

I wonder what people think of the name 'Nissa'
it's the name of one of Dr Who female companians from the 70's. I guess you could spell it 'Nisa' as well.

I love my name, and yes it is pronounced wit an e instead of an a. I love the fact that i have such a speacial name that no one i know has. But pften times it gets frustrating when people can not pronounce my name right. But i guess thats the cost og having such an unique name.

Wow! Can't not believe there are so many other Anissa's out there. I actually just met a girl today with the same name & pronounced it the same but spelled it Aneesah. It's nice not having a name like everyone else.

I'm 28 and I love my name! My parents had a teacher in high school that had a daughter with my name and liked it so much they decided to name me that. Only my name is pronounced with a short 'i' (UH-NIS-SAH) like you hear in Melissa. Most people try to pronounce it UH-NEE-SAH, which is wrong in my case. The girl a year ahead of me in school did pronounce it with the 'e' sound.

My mother likes my name but didn't like it with two s's so I only have one. Most people do spell my name Anissa though. It's pronounced UH-NIS-SAH but like many others people pronouce it UH-NEE-SAH. Its very strange but nice to hear people say their name is the same as mine since it is such a rare name.
