There are many well known women and fictional characters with this name. Lady Brett Ashley from The Sun Also Rises (author Ernest Hemingway), actress Brett Summers, comedian Brett Butler, Brett Main from the North and South Trilogy (author John Jakes). My daughter's name is Brett. I think it is such a pretty feminine name. The proper spelling for the male form is Bret. I think the name Brent is much more masculine. I totally disagree that it is a baby boy name. I see it more as a baby girl name. I personally can name more females with the name.
