I'm a Karen too, but I have never had a problem being teased. The only nicknames I have ever been called by people who are teasing me are Karie, Kay, and Kaytee which are all respectable. I have been popular and successful in life which I partly attribute to having a strong and solid first name.

I am not a big fan on my name, Karen. I personally think it is boring. While growin up all my friends had nicknames, of a shorter version and i was just karen. I always wanted a fun name

I was never teased in any way because of my first name. Also, some of my friends have shortened it to just "Kare" which I love. It is a very strong name, and I like it much more now as an adult than I did when I was a kid. For such a "commmon" name, I haven't met many other Karens at all!
its not that bad!

This name was popular when I was born, my mother used it to over ride my fathers suggestion of Stephanie (thanks mom!) So since this name was popular from the 50's too the late 70's most people I know named Karen are in their 30s and 40's. My last job there were 3 Karen's so we had to devise a way to tell us apart. Like, Karen from the office, or Karen from ardsley. We thought it was funny, but I've never been teased by my first name, just my last name. :-)
a love my name

I love my name
written by Karen N, February 26, 2008
My mom named me Karen because she wanted me to have a name that couldn't be shortened into a nickname or silly name. I was never teased, but I did grow up with LOTS of Karens in my class, spelled all different ways. And I am friends with a few Karens now. It is funny to me that people are often asking me to spell my name for them. I love the meaning of our name as well. What a great legacy my parents gave me. K
Love it!

My parents chose Karen as my name because they liked the meaning of it, which is pure. Loved it!
