Sometimes people just can't seem to get the name of Kendra right. I've been called Kenya, Sandra, Brenda, Kimba, Kenda, Linda and Kindra!
Now that I'm in my mid-40's, I have definitely embraced the name, but I still get odd looks from people when I introduce myself as Kendra. Just food for thought! :)

I was named after both my parents
Kenneth & Debra, My mom thought at the time that she had made it up (this ovbiously isn't the case)
because i disliked my name so much i would often go by "Kenii" which all my girlfriends would call me and when i started dating in high school i had a boy call me kendy which at the time i thought was much more girlie than Kendra
Now im just happy that im not named sarah or jessica like every other girl

I don't hear it very often and a lot of the time I get asked "are you black?" not that that's a problem but its funny because when I graduated high school I actually got a scholarship because they thought I was based on my name... my mom and I got to the church and we were the only 2 white people there. Quite a memory...and a funny one at that. I like my name because it's different and yet still something you don't hear every day. I'd like to find a name like that for my daughter if I have one. I did not like being called Kenny either... I'm like HELLO... it is KENDRA.... that's it.. Just plain Kendra.
It is an honor to know there are so many other Kendra's out there.
