my middle name is Lynn.

I'm a Mariah and I really was named after the song so that's what my name really means in my opinion. I'm not going to say that I'm not a bitter person because I can be but so can everybody else. I was going to be Monica Nicole until my mom heard that song on the way to the hospital in labor with me.

We named our daughter for the energy she was carrying, of a very unique woman who was my friend before she passed away very young. Thank you very much for the Moriah posting that brings it together. Moriah was the mountain on which Abraham was tested. If it means in hebrew 'God Teaches' it could be a reminder of a bitter lesson. I have always associated it with Mary, Maria, Mer, those goddess names we find in the bible and have given to the sea. Why would Mary mean bitter??

I've never heard that, i have heard "the wind" and "headstrong" which i've always thought was perfect because she wanted out real bad and put me into early labor (the headstrong part) and her personality is very much like the wind, always changing, sometimes a light breeze and other times a raging storm. I've paired her name with Lynne, named after my mother...my other daughter, her twin, is named after the paternal grandmother.

My sisters name is Mariah Lynn. She is the only mariah that I know. My husband had a friend who's girlfriend named their girl Mariah. i am expectiing my 2nd child and I don't know if it is going to be a boy or girl yet. I have my girl name all picked out: Madison Maraih. Mariah is a strong name and it was hard to pick a 1st name that went well with it. My sister was named after the song, 'they call the wind mariah'. my dad said it was a really bad song but loved the name.

i hate it when people call me ''mariah carey'' i bet all the other mariah's out there do too. do u???

Yeah well to all those people who hate being called Mariah Carey, try a day in my shoes. My birth name is Mariah-Carey Marie. Yeah, my dad had a bit of a thing for her. I was gonna be called Shannan by my mom, but my dad got his way. So yeah. You don't like being called Mariah Carey? I am! The most annoying thing is my dad is really proud of it and always introduces me as Mariah-Carey. Then they always ask "Oh, can you sing?" Hmm. Not cool. Everyone I know calls me Mia, pronounced Mya, and I like it that way. People don't usually find out my real name unless they open my wallet. But yeah. Thanks.

Yea I don't quite have the Carey part but my middle name is Carrel(like Carol but the male version--grandfather's name) so I get the Carey more than most. But I was named after the Mountain in the Bible -- just a small adjustment from Moriah
