My daughters names is also Sydney Isabelle. And, a boy, she is not.... I'm not sure why, but one day, she asked me what her name meant. Because her last name means "sweet one" I told her that not only was she sweet, but Sydney is a beauty; short for beautiful, which is the meaning of "belle", and the people of Sydney Australia.

I think this name started being a male name until the 80's when the girls started using it. Now, the people who have the name are female. Unless you go to your local senior center and then you find a couple Sidneys. Once they are gone, it will be exclisively female I bet.
