The character in the book was named Pip, they changed it to Finn for the movie.

Finn as a first name is a very popular name in Scandinavia, particularly Norway, which is why I named my son Finn, for his Norwegian heritage. Finn as a last name became popular in Ireland later, after the Vikings.
