More than one way to say it.

If you are in Quebec people say Jsohn-Vi-Ev. If you are in France or Europe people ususally say Jsen-E-Vi-Ev. And in the US most say Jen-E-Vieve. I lived abroad so I heard them all. I really like my name, and am constantly grateful my parents gave it to me.

Arthur's maiden was Gweneviere, not Genevieve. But in the musical she does sing a song to Saint Genevieve.

My name is Genevieve and I LOVE it!

It is pronounced jhon v ev...my mom picked it from a French movie. I am American and everyone tries to call me Jen a veve. But now that i am almost 40 i can tell people how to pronounce it. It means White Wave and my middle name is Lynn....which seems to flow.

I love this name....my little girl is names Genevieve Elizabeth and we call her Gena (Jenna) I like her having a name that not everyone has and it is very elegant. But just a f.y.i Genevieve's are very very spunky they have their own mind on everything they do from the very start. It makes for an exciting day everyday. Geneiveve is said jenna vee veve.

Family Name

I was named after my paternal(Emma Genevieve) and my maternal (Pauline) grandmothers. There are also several distant relatives with the name, so it must be something from the "old country." I love my name, and although many people can't spell/pronounce it, it's always made me feel special.
