I was named after the princess anastasia as well except that my parents spelled it with a "c". I have always loved my name and find that a child with a unique name is able to develope a more unique personality...not just your average joe or mary!

When I was growing up I seen the movie Cinderella and the name from the wicked step sister always stayed in my head. Her name was Anastasia. So when I got pregnant I told my husband that was going to be our daughters name if we ever had one. I also wanted the name to be different. She is now 14 and when the movie came out about the lost Russian princess everyone started to name there daughters Anastasia. I gave her the middle name Marie and when in trouble I call her Annmarie.

It is very odd because I had never know that the name Anastasia existed. I was just thinking of baby names one day and the name Anastasia just popped into my head. After a while, the movie came out. I fell in love with the name Anastasia because there is just something so pure about the name. If I ever give birth to a daughter, I hope to bless her with this name.

My husband really loved this name. He tried to get me to name our first daughter Anastasia but it just didn't feel right to me at the time. We ended up naming our first daughter Trinity and our second daughter Anastasiya. We call her Tasiya for short.
My baptismal name
written by arietta, June 15, 2009
Anastasia is my baptismal name that I chose myself. I pronounce it closer to the Greek/Russian way: ah-nuh-stah-see-uh. It's so beautiful, and has such a significant meaning for baptism. It's one of those names that, even though you can shorten it, you don't want to because the whole thing sounds so regal. I get called Ana or Anya by others sometimes. I also like the Russian diminutives of the name, but nobody uses it where I am.

I think this name is kind of weird. My husband and I are thinking of names to name our baby daughter and we have been using babyhold.com and he told me to look up this name because he loves it. I think it sounds kind of weird like a girl who doesn't have any drinks or who is the weirdo at school. I just can't imagine a high schoolar named Anastasia!!
