i love this name but the spelling isnt irish ? the irish surname is spelled reilly and is a common surname

My has this name but it is spelled differently. Her name is spelled Rhiley. I think it makes it more of a girl's name.

just so anyone who is searching for the origins of riley, it's an irish name, although there are different derivatives, like Reilly is the English version and so on.

Riley is actually a BOYS name, but in the past 5-6yrs has become popular also as a girls name. Either way it is a great name (my son's name!) but it did actually originate as a men's name and was just able to cross over into a cute, spunky little girls name!

I have never seen it spelled with 2 I's but we spell my 17 year old daughter's name Ryleigh. We get lots of compliments on the spelling because I think it looks more feminine. All three of my girls have boys names, I'm not sure why, we just liked them. It's a great name and my Ryleigh never seems offended when she meets a boy with the same name or a different spelling. She actually thinks it's pretty cool!

I spell my sons name Reiley. I thought it was cute and unique. I love the name and so do my friends and family. I also think its cute for a girl.

My mom named me Riley after my great-grandfather, and now my nephew's middle name is Riley. It's an awesome name but unfortunately it's as popular now as Jennifer and Michelle were back in the 70s & 80s. Everywhere I go there's a baby Riley - it's crazy. At least I had 20 years of being somewhat unique. :)

I think Riley is the most beautiful name to call either a boy or a girl. I'd love to be called Riley. It sounds so soft and elegant I think. There are so many ways you can spell it too. Riley, Rhiley, Rileigh, Rylee, Rili, Rileey whatever!
