My grandson was named Ronan because when his mom (my daughter) was little we watched a movie, "Secret of Inish Roan." Which told the legend of why there was one dark complected, dark eyed, person in every Irish family. It was the legend of the Selkie. (not sure about that spelling.) We used to tease her that she was part seal. When she found the name Ronan she and her husband said if the baby was a dark boy they would name him Ronan. His middle name is Heule which is my daughter's step-father's last name. He had no biological children and she wanted to make sure his name was passed down because she loves and respects him so much. I think it is a very strong, prestigious name
