I have had this name for longer than I currently wish to admit to. Okay, so here is my question. Who is saying Tara as (tear-a) and who is saying Tara as (tar-a). Now I now about potato (po-tay-toe) and potato (po-ta-toe) but just wanted to know if Tara is versatile and thus, Kara, Lara, Cara why is Sara or Sarah-remember the h is silent anyhow, is said Sara as (ser-a) but never is Sara said (s-are-a). Just wondered . . .by the way I say T-air-a

I love my name. It was rare where I completed school. I didn't meet others with that name until high school. I was informed that it was a well known name in India. My middle name is Louise and I have a difficult time convincing people to combine the two. That name came from my mothers' mother. I am treated as a child a lot at 35 although the name Tara was influenced somewhat by an adult soap opera character. I nicknamed myself Mahogony because I am hoping that my life will improve financially as a result. A higher authority encourages us to choose a name rather than abundant riches. Proverbs 22:1
I love my name.

So i only know a few people with my name now. Two actually. And i think it is the way I pronounce it. I pronounce my name Tar-a, whereas most people think its Tear-a, when they read it. It can be frustrating, but i kindly correct them. I actually found in a book one time that it means "blue rock" in Indonesian.

My name is also Tara I love my name it has many meanings. In sanskrit its Star in Gaelic its earth and I've recently learned from this site that it is also crag, mountain, where the kings met, and many other meanings. I've come to not mind the mispronuncition much as I've been mistaken for 26 years and guess i got used to it. It used to bother me a great deal but not anymore.
