we named our daughter miya. i heard the name once while i was pregnant and knew that we would name our daughter that. but we pronounce it a little different then some MY-YA. but i love the spelling, and really didn't want a three letter name.
pronunciation.

just an fyi, the only japanese way to pronounce this is mee-ya. an "i" in japanese always, ALWAYS has a short sound. the long "i" sound in japnese is spelled "ai". So it's cool to pronounce it however you like - that's your freedom - just know that as a name of japanese origin, if you said "my-ya" to a japanese person, they'd think you were spelling it "maiya" or even just "maya".

Just thought I'd clear this all up: Miya is pronounced me-yah. Nice name, too.

This is my little cousin's name, though we pronounce it "My-Yuh," too. Yeah, I know the traditional Japanese way is mee-yah and all, but I didn't name her. I do like the spelling, though. It's pretty.
