My daughter's name is SEYSIAN.

Which is originally from the welsh version Sian. She is a gift from God but I wanted her to be more unique in sound and added Sey to the front so the it is pronounced SAY - SIAN... Not bad ehh.

She is truely unique and I am glad that I did it. I think it is always a good idea to find names with meaning and see if you can add your own twist on it to make it unique!

My name is Sian and I hate it. Everyone pronounces it wrong, no one can spell it, and its unattractive in cursive. Those sorts of things are important to me! I wish my parents had gone with a classic name rather than what looked cool.

The correct way to say "Sian" is Sh-arn. People who get it wrong or prefer Sy-an, Cee-ann, etc get on my nerves. It's Welsh not Irish.
thx this helped me alot

My Daughter is called Sian Ashleigh, I named her this after I had a dream when I was a teenager. I had never heard the name before, then 9 years later I had a little girl and she is called Sian she suites her name and she was a gift from god. People do pronounce it wrong but she still likes it. I think you get more attention if you have an unusual name.
unusual name??

This thread has made me laugh with the amount of people saying that Sian is an unusual name - well, maybe if you live outside of Wales it's not so common.

As already stated by another Sian, the correct pronunciation is Sharn.

Yes it bugs me when people phone up and ask to speak to See-Ann but it's not the end of the world. If it's a sales call, I tell them there's no one there of that name or I just correct them. Next time someone asks for Sy-Ann, I'm going to tell them that's the colour of an ink cartridge, not a name! lol

I didn't used to be that fussed on my name (I wanted a name with more than one syllable) but I like it now and I really can't imagine being called anything else. I also like how some people call me Siany, I find that quite cute.

As for being a 'gift from god' I'm pretty sure there were times that my parents would have gone with me being a gift from satan, lol.
