I don't have a dog, but my brother and his wife have a big black lab. Before their oldest was born they started doing things a baby would do to a dog like pull his ears and tail a little bit so he would get used to it and they could teach him not to snap for it. Buddy's a very good dog and very well trained, so I'd definitely make sure of those kinds of things before the baby arrives.

Its good to get them used to being around baby things - walking with a stroller, being around baby toys and them learning that the babies toys are not theirs to play with. I have hear too its good to bring home a blanket from the hospital that smells like baby and they can get used to the smell before you come home with the baby. Also keeping the dogs off the furniture, etc is good - so when you are feeding baby, the dogs wont think they can be up there too for attention. Hope this helps.
