I am aggravated at my husband's grandmother. We have had tons of ultrasounds (I'm high risk) and my dr says it's a girl. Well, I wasn't convinced, I know I don't see anything like we saw with our son, but I just couldn't see what he was saying was girl parts. So we went for a second opinion and didn't tell the u/s tech what he'd said, just that we wanted to know the gender. She told us girl also and I was 23 weeks then and she showed us 3 little lines (I was 17 wks when dr told us). She also said they haven't been wrong yet. So we have been preparing for a baby girl, and then the other day his grandmother tells me she thinks it's a boy because I am carrying all in front. I told her, well if it is, then he will come home to a pink room and everything, but we'll just use our son's stuff and move him in with him...but anyway, what she said is not what I needed to hear. Anyway, guess now I am having doubts again. We have 8 wks to go and we'll know for sure! So I guess we'll just prepare for a girl and if it turns out wrong, oh well...but I don't think it's because of what grandmother said because I don't think it matters how you carry. But anyway, as long as it's a healthy baby.

A very good friend of mine carried all in front, her belly was like a little basketball and she barely gained any weight, and she had a little girl!! It goes against all old wives tales I've ever heard, so if I were you I would ignore Grandma and go with medical technology!!! I, on the other hand, was huge! I gained weight everywhere! My whole body was swollen up and I looked terrible, which they say means you're having a girl, they "steal your beauty"...I had a big healthy baby boy!!! So I wouldnt stress about it!! Good luck with everything

On ultrasound, the baby girl looks like a hamburger and the baby boy looks like a hotdog. The 3 lines are the labia majora, and if they were visible on the US you have a girl. It is easy to mistake a girl for a boy (the umbilicus can sometimes loop itself so that it looks like a penis) but it is very hard to mistake a boy for a girl.
