I am just wondering how many of you had your water to break on it's own? With our son, I went 5 days over my due date and had to have it broken. With our daughter, my water broke the day I turned 33 weeks (this was 4 months ago). It seems that everyone's water is breaking that is having babies this year, and early! So just wondering how many others there are...and how long did your dr hold off delivery?

With my 1st child my water broke on it's own and I began having contractions 7 1/2 hours later. My daughter was born 24 hours after my water broke.

With #'s 2 and 3 they induced me and they broke my water. And #4 I went into labor on my own but they still had to break my water.

I have three children. My water broke on its own only with the last.

It went on its own with #s 1 & 4 and doctors did it with 2&3. With all but my last one I delivered within 2 hours of my water breaking. My first one I was 37 weeks along when she was born. With my last one my water broke at home just after 7:00 a.m. and I was 38 weeks. She was breech so she had to be delivered via c-section. It was 10:00 exactly when she was born, so just under 3 hrs after my water broke. The other 2 were both born the day before their due dates.

With my son I was induced so they broke my water for me. With my daughter, my water broke at 38 weeks and I started having contractions right away. Both of my babies were born via c-section though (my son was an emergency and my daughter was an elective c-section, but not scheduled) unfortunately, I don't know how long I would have labored afterward.

I was a week overdue with both of mine (they seemed to want to grow up in there!). So after the week over, my doc induced me and had to break my water with both. My labors however weren't long, only about 6 - 6 1/2 hours each. I credit that alot to the epidurals. They helped me relax so my body could dialate like it should.
