A Connection?
By Lady Bug 3 Years, 7 Months Ago
I've been useing this website now for about
a week.. Talking about names and pregnancy
and really trying to excite myself about
my pregnancy..

But i'm not excited. I havent felt that emotional connection with the little person inside of me..
when i think about having this baby i think "Okay, so i'm having a baby." Not "YAY! I"M HAVING A BABY!"

Dont get me wrong. I want it,If i didnt want it i'd be thinking
about adoption. I just dont know why i'm not..thrilled.
And i know alot of you are going to think.. well.. are you unsure about the babys father?? or your current "status" in life? But no.
I've been with this man for six years. And F*** status.

I was just wondering if this was normal..

There was a story on the news recently, about girls who
dump their babys in dumpsters. The doctor who discussed it
started talking about young moms who feel disconnected during
their pregnancy often dont care for the life of the newborn and
thats why they are able to just abandon it.
I would never do that, but hearing why they are able to just
made me feel terrible.

Am i just a horrible person? or Is this feeling some what
normal in the beginning? I'm a little over 3 months..
I havent seen the baby yet. (No UltraSound pictures or anything)
Could that be a reason i feel disconnected?
Have any of you ever felt this way about your unborn?
Even a little..

You should talk to your doctor, this is not uncommon. What excited me most about being pregnant was imagining what the baby was going to look like.

What's with the picture of the baby in the womb with the gun, kinda creepy?

Well how far along are you? Have you felt your baby? because if not once you feel that baby move its more of a relization and you may get more excited.
Maybe you might be going through depression

Lady Bug, you are not a horrible person. It is common some mothers do not feel connected yet with their babies in the wombs.

I feel the same way. I guess it is because it is our first time, and we don't know what to expect. Especially in my early trimesters, I couldn't really feel that an amazing life-form is actually growing inside of me, it is just so subtle. But now as I get into my later trimester, I feel the baby move everyday, and it is so wonderful, and I start to feel my connection with the baby by feeling his movements.

I am sure things will get better later on for you.

I agree with daniclic. My sister had a baby in July and felt that because she didn't find out the sex, was why she felt so unattached to her baby. but as soon as that baby was born, you almost couldn't tear the baby out of her arms. She says now she couldn't imagine it any other way.
I think you're perfectly normal!
