Birthday party
By Kaismommy 1 Year, 8 Months Ago
Hi everyone

My son, Kai, will be turning one on October 31th this year and I couldn't be happier! Kai is a happy, normal 11 month old. My fiance and I are going back and forth on giving him a birthday party and the theme of the party.
So my question is, when your baby turned 1 or any other age, what type of birthday party did they have and do you think your child enjoyed it? Any advice on what to and not to do?

Thanks in adance!

Happy birthday to Kai!

my cousin's first birthday party themes were:

Brayden - elmo
Winston - thomas teh tank engine
Karson - pink poodle

they all loved their parties! they got honored and cooed over and everyone loved the smash cakes. all of my other cousin's had a boy's 1st or a girl's 1st. i saw that Kai's birthday is on Halloween. maybe you could ask people to come over a day before and have a Halloween/1st bday combination.

have fun!

My oldest didn't really have a theme for her first birthday. We just got together with family after church and had dinner together. A family friend made her a 3D pink ducky cake. She thought it was great until we cut the duck's head off. For her second birthday she had a Dora cake, and last year her birthday party was Tinker Bell themed.
Our second oldest's birthday is Oct. 28 and for her first birthday she had pumpkin cakes. They were cute and she had fun making a mess with them.
Our little boy will turn one on the 13th. Not sure what we're doing for him yet, even though it's only a couple weeks away.

Well my fiance wants Kai to have a superhero themed party because its a tradition in his family for the boys to have some type of superhero party.
I'm not that fond of a superhero party because Kai cries every time he sees a Batman cartoon or anything like that on tv so I'm worried that he'll be afraid and upset on his birthday when he sees everyone dressed up as the characters. I'm leaning more towards elmo and other themes like that which he really likes but its hard convincing my fiance and his family.

I do llke your ideas though of just inviting family memmbers out to eat and having it the day before his actual birthday Its simple and fun so we can get it over with without Kai crying lol

I just saw on Sesame Street that Grover has a Superhero personality. Here is the info I found online at http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Grover...

Super Grover is Grover as a superhero, one of his many jobs on Sesame Street. His true identity in these sketches is Grover Kent (referencing Clark Kent), a doorknob salesman in Metro City. Super Grover uses his superpowers to help others, though generally he ends up not helping at all.

In the 2010 season of Sesame Street, Super Grover is featured in his own segment, "Super Grover 2.0".

Maybe you could do a Muppet Superhero party.

Being as it is on Halloween, and here in the US (do you live in the US?) parents are always looking for some safe fun Halloween activities, I would theme it Halloween and let kids come in any costume. It will save money in the long run as you can just buy orange and black plates, cups, and platicware, and gift bags full of Candy.

Having a birthday on Halloween will seem like a pain sometimes, but (like my sister Kathy who's birthday is right before Halloween) you have to embrace it and go with the flow. I have a Toga Party at the end of the month to go to to celebrate her birthday!
