6mo old with Chicken pox! help? By BridgetKatharine 1 Year, 5 Months Ago My 6 month old has a really bad case of the chicken pox he got from my cousin who was in town. I feel so bad for him! He's miserable! He's constantly crying, extremely fussy, and just itchy with a low fever! I don't know what to do about it though. I don't know how to make him comfortable and not so itchy! Zack wants only home remedies to help him (except for oatmeals baths) not be so itchy all the time. And the oatmeal baths he get's before he goes to bed but he'll only sleep for 2-3 hours before he wakes up screaming again!
Zack and I are just so frusterated! NEither one of us are getting sleep and I don't know how much longer I can deal with my baby boy always screaming because he's sick! We are willing to try anything at this point! Thanks! Bridget

Re:6mo old with Chicken pox! help? By HM and JT 1 Year, 5 Months Ago Poor little boy. I've just got a couple home remedies from the internet that I hope helps. Will your partner not allow pharmaceutical help? I know I used a cream when my daughter had the chicken pox, I can't remembered what its called but it was purple. I think it had lavender in it??
There's are couple remedies on the link below, but I'll also write out a couple from it. http://www.natural-homeremedies.com/homeremedies_chicken_pox.htm Baking soda is a popular home remedy for chicken pox which controls the itch. Some baking soda is to be put in a glass of water. The child is then sponged with the water, so that the soda dries on the affected areas. This will keep the child away from scratching those eruptions and it will also help healing the lesions. Another simple but useful natural remedy for chicken pox is the application of Vitamin E oil. It helps relieving itching and it also has a healing effect. The scars of chicken pox fade away very quickly.

Re:6mo old with Chicken pox! help? By ReenaC 1 Year, 5 Months Ago I don't want to freak you out, but chicken pox in a baby that young is pretty serious. He really should go to the pediatrician. they can give him acyclovir and cut the length of his infection down by half or more.

Re:6mo old with Chicken pox! help? By BriarEG 1 Year, 5 Months Ago Poor Baby!
I know vinegar mixed with water to bathe in works! Thats what my mam did with my brother when he got the chicken pox a few months ago! Last Edit: 2010/11/29 10:32 By BriarEG.

Re:6mo old with Chicken pox! help? By BridgetKatharine 1 Year, 5 Months Ago @HM and JT: Thanks for the website! I will definitely try the oil and baking soda, and I'll be taking a look at the website right after I finish typing! I really appreciate it! And yes he doesn't want pharmaceutical help (which quite honeslty is frustrating me) unless things keep getting worse then we will. Like we have been to the doctor and he is monitoring it, Zack just wants to use home remedies to make it go away! He does this with every illness
@ReneeC: We have been to a doctor and we have a doctor monitoring Grayson. Zack just wants home remedies to cure him and doesn't want to use to acyclovir or anything else the doctor could prescribe Grayson unless he just keeps getting worse. It's pretty bad right now, so I'm not sure how much worse it has to get for Zack to get on board with asking the doctor for help! Since that's what hes there for!

By klairesmommy 1 Year, 5 Months Ago I am not sure if it will help or not but my daughter has bad eczema. Whn she starts itching I use Aveeno Baby Eczema Cream. It is an OTC lotion/cream that is made with oatmeal. It really seems to help her a lot. I know that chicken pox are way different but it might help the poor little guy with his itching! When I was younger my Mom would mix baking soda in our bath water when we got the chicken pox, chiggers, bug bites, etc. You could also try putting a cool washcloth on some of the spots where he seems to be itching at the moment. But just use your Mommy instinct and if you think he is getting worse take him straight in. I know the chicken pox can go bad fast!
