Feeding 8 month old?
By Mommy2aPrince 3 Years, 9 Months Ago
My son is 8 months and I am just so confused about what he should be eating around this time. Some say it should strictly be formula, others say 3 jars of stage 2 jar food a day. Is table food o.k. around this age as well? I gave him little pieces of whole wheat bread and he just absolutely loved it. Anyone have any advice? (sorry if i sound so confused LOL)

I was giving my 2nd son some table food at 8 mos.He was drinking way to much formula{I was told that by the dr}.He also had baby food 2.I gave him mashed potato's,scrambled eggs, some bread, smashed banana's and things of that nature.By 10 mos my son was only on table food and whole milk.{whole milk per the Dr}He is now a healthy and happy 8 year old.

No, you should not start table food until 1 year. At eight months he should be eating formla/breast milk and baby food. This is the time you should be intoducing only one new food a week to make sure he is not allergic. My doctor said to start out with cereals, then veggies, then fruits, and then meats. They gave us a list and everything. Talk to your doctor and see if they have list of foods for you.

I am just going by what I was told.Every baby is different.Things have changed so much over the years that it was different with all my kids.My first 1 was born in 1995 and my 2nd in 2000 and my step son in 2005 and my last son in 2006.
All of my children were started on baby cereal at 1 month being that they weren't getting enough vitamins and what they needed from breast milk and formula. It is all a preference.I did what my dr suggested not on my own decision. The only one of my boys that never had any baby food or cereal was my last and that was due to the fact that he was fed through a tube as he could barely tolerate regular feeds!Due to his genetic disorder.
As I said before it is all a preference and yes talk to your childs physician and get there opinion.I did what my Dr suggested but all Dr's are different.

"My4boys," my comment was not meant to be critical in any way I was just answering the question with the information I received from my doctor. I understand all doctors are different and that times have changed. I have answered many posts on this very topic and have seen a variety of answers. Please don't take my comments as critical, I am only trying to help with the information I have as I am sure you were also trying to do.

WELL NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE BUT MY OLDEST WAS ON CERAL BY 4 WEEKS AND MY YOUNGEST BY 2 WEEKS DUE TO REFLUX PER DOCTORS ADVICE. MY OLDEST WAS EATING BABY FOOD BY 2 MONTH AND MY YOUNGEST WAS ABOUT 6 MONTHS BECAUSE HE DIDN'T LIKE IT ONLY WANTED BREAST MILK. AND BOTH WERE ON TABLE FOOD BY 7 MONTHS ALL THE TIME. EVERY CHILD IS DIFFERENT..... SOME CAN TOLERATE BABY FOOD OR TABLE FOOD EARLIER THAN OTHERS YOU JUST HAVE TO TRY DIFFERENT THINGS AND SEE WHAT THEIR PREFERENCE IS. I NEVER WORRIED MUCH ABOUT FOOD ALLERGIES AS NO ONE ON EITHER SIDE HAD ANY. AND IT NEVER WAS A PROBLEM BUT ONCE AGAIN EVERY FAMILY IS DEIIFERENT. GOOD LUK AND YOU AS HIS MOTHER WILL KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR HIM
