Flu shot.. yes or no? By Mommy2aPrince 3 Years, 7 Months Ago While I was at the doctors for my 10 month son's check-up, the doctor was insisting to give him a flu shot. I told her I am still on the border of whether I want him to get it or not. I just don't understand why doctors are so pushy about injecting infants/children with so many drugs. When we were younger, the flu was a great thing to boost up our immune system. I want my son to be able to fight illness by himself and not with the use of drugs.
Please give me your input on this!

Re:Flu shot.. yes or no? By MorgannsMommy 3 Years, 7 Months Ago My pediatrician recommended against it when my daughter was 1. She is going to be two and we are going to ask again.

Re:Flu shot.. yes or no? By puck 3 Years, 7 Months Ago this is one of those topics that usually gets heated.
the flu shot that is given is just a shot in the dark, a guess at which flu virus is going around, and may not protect you at all. we (including babies) can handle alot of antigens in our bodies at once, so if you do get it theres no harm done. my kids are immunized-to an extent. they do not have flu shots, we request that the mmr vaccin be seperated, so that they only got the mumps& rubella part of it. i think that the flu& measles should be contracted naturally, its a part of growing up and it helps your immune system naturally grow and respond to illness. Re:Flu shot.. yes or no? By pouse 3 Years, 7 Months Ago A lot of those vaccinations don't seem to work as they claim, the flu shot seems to be one of them. I know people who got that shot last year and all of them ended up with the flu while people who didn't get the shot didn't get sick at all.
In my opinion doctors tend to get push about giving drugs out because they make money off of it, and sometimes it helps. Granted its not always a bad thing to get certain vaccinations, because some people will develop an immunity to it with the shot, but I think some things are needed in order to boost the immune system, the flu and chicken pox just to name a few. But then again, I know not everyone is going to agree with me, since as a general rule most people seem to trust doctors, I however am not one of those people, and no longer believe in most of the immunizations due to personal experiences, I will allow my daughter to get some of them (after she's born and all that good stuff) but not the ones that I've seen fail. So really I think it is up to the parent to decide on what shots are necessary, but I do think that we might be drugging our kids a bit too much, which in the long run will weaken the immune system and could potentially be harmful in the long run.

Re:Flu shot.. yes or no? By Mommy2aPrince 3 Years, 7 Months Ago Thank you all so much for your opinions! I feel so much better knowing there are some out there that believe that the flu shot does not need to be given. I was just so aggravated that the doctor assumed because I was a young (and I'm guessing ignorant to the vaccinations) mother, I should have let her give him his shot anyway. But you all made me feel ten times better about the scenario of how I was feeling about the situation!
