Re:What Time Do Your Children Go To Bed?
By new mami 3 Years, 7 Months Ago
My son is 6 months old, and so far he is going to sleep around 11 or 12 at night, and gets up at 8 or 9 in the morning. He takes about 3 naps during the day, so he doesn't get tired too early. It works out for me though, because I am still staying up until about 3 or 4 in the morning. (I am only 16) But I know soon, I am going to try to get him in the routine of sleeping less during the day, and trying to get him in bed at around 8 or 9 and up at 7 or so.

I have 3 1/2 yr old twins and a 1 month old son.
My twins Delainey and Jaiden have daycare that starts at 11 and gets out at 2. I'm currently on maternity leave but I will be returning to work in 2 weeks . My husband is at work from 8-5. So usually when the twins get home from school we play and then dinner, bathtime, then special daddy and twins time, then bed at 830 sometimes 9 depending how the day went , my 1 month old son Roman just goes with the flow of things and sleeps fairly well. We just started the twins on a schedule for bed time at least when they were about 1 1/2. So for us bed time isnt to hard.

Davis is 6 months & he is in his crib at 8pm and wakes up at 6am. Sometimes, like on weekends, I'll let him stay up later if we are out or have people over, but he usually doesn't stay up past 10.

My son Riley is 2 and a half and my daughter Ella is 9 months. We start giving baths, brushing teeth and putting on pajamas at around 8:30 or 9:00 or sometimes later depending on if we went out for the evening or had company over. They are asleep by 10:00 most nights. We all are awake between 7:30-8:00 on weekdays but on the weekends it varies. Nap times happen for Riley sometime between noon and 2:00 and for Ella whenever she is tired. I didn't specifically set these times per se but these are the times that Riley adapted to on his own and has done so since he was right around a year old.

I'm not against bed times in any way and I do believe that children should go to bed at age-appropriate hours, but enforcing a strict bed time and following a rigorous schedule all the time just does not work for our family. I would say that about 75% of the time we can follow our normal schedule but we also exercise flexibility with the time.

I have noticed that if children are getting appropriate amounts of rest, proper nutrition, and regular exercise that they will pretty much set their own hours. I realize that this isn't true for some children as every child is different, but this is what works for my family. I believe that every parent should decide what works best for their family and there is no "perfect" bed time that every child should have.

I don't really have to give my boys a bedtime. They are so active during the day. All they do is sports, play in mud, cook with at night, play with my little little siblings who are a year or so older give or take, paint, draw, clean, (they are not forced to they actually like it. is that normal?) and then wrestle with daddy and of course eat a million times, so they are normally in bed by 8:30. But they share a room so I'm sure they play alittle after 8:30.

My daughter is 3 years old since she was born I've always had the same routine with her. Around 8pm I make her warm milk and she watched any DVD show she wants and then we head to bed about 9:00-9:30pm and I sing, talk to her etc and she's in bed by 10-10:30pm.
