Re:FOR YOU STAY-AT-HOME MUMS??
By bigmomma 3 Years, 7 Months Ago
I too am a stay at home mom. my son is 2almost 29 months and i have another due in December. It can be very hard at times but we always seem to manage. If it is something you want to do then you should. I bet you will find a way to make it work. If you decide you can't or just want to go back to work there is always that option. Being home with your children works for some and not so much for others. i personally feel like it is just a choice you make. if you want to make it work you can. Chances are you'll have to budget and make sacrifices sometimes but i have found it is well worth it in the end. oh, and another note. if you find money to be tight you could take on a couple of kids to babysit. i did that for a while and found it helped out when we needed it.

i will be a stay at home mum when my twins come home, my husband and i started putting money away each month prior to having the boys this allowed us to have money in the bank incase of an emergancy and also incase an unexpected bill came in....i think for people who want to be a stay at home mum you could do this so you would not have to worry about money being tight

I'm a working mum, part-time for now. I'll be taking maternity leave for number 2 though next April & would love to stay at home with him/her for at least 6 mths.
It's a hard decision to make for many women though, and one we do tend to give ourselves a hard time over. I haven't studied or worked full time since i had our daughter, & quite honestly don't think i will for many years to come.
We can get by on just my husbands wage, easily. Finances isn't as much the reason i work as it is i love my job & find that the time i have away from home, doing something that makes me feel like i'm making a difference to other peoples lives, makes me love the time i have at home even more. Please don't jump on me & accuse me of getting my priorities wrong but i would go a little batty myself if i was a stay at home mum full time. Thats why i think those women who do it are brilliant, and much tougher than me. I'm just a better mum when i work than when i don't. Working i suppose is ME time, it's just a bonus that i get to help out my hubby with the finances.
If it's important to you though do the sums & make a budget you can stick with and i'm sure you will make it work.
