why does this go unnoticed??
By Seaason 3 Years, 6 Months Ago
in the local evening news tonight i saw a story..
17 yo mother & 19 yo man charged with torture after she admits her 6 week old baby to hospital with multiple fractures!!!!

this happened in my home town and frankly i am ashamed..
i have always thought we had a really good system for looking after new and especially young others, i know for the first couple weeks a midwife is supposed to come to ur house on a regular basis to check on baby and mother and too look for signs that mum isnt coping ,
where was this girls family, neighbours, friends? could they not see that something was wrong?? i am appalled that this goes unnoticed??

i have suffered from post natal depression in the past, but thankfully i was able to recognise it and get help, and i implore any new mother who is feeling totally overwhelmed , too seek help, even if its just talking to a close friend, or your mum, or a doctor, or if u know a new mother encourage them to talk about their fears and anxieties, even if they are not depressed its always nice when someone pays attention to how mums feeling rather than baby all the time..

now dont get me wrong.. i am in no way justifying what this girl has done to that baby, or allowed her boyfriednd to do.. im just saying that if someone had have been paying attention this may have been averted..
Last Edit: 2008/11/19 04:25 By Seaason. Reason: i have pregnant brain i have dne this #3 now

It is disgusting. Some people should not be allowed children. But I agre with you about community support. Where I come from two men have just been jailed for killing a young girl by kicking her in the head. She was also pegged to and swung around on a clotheline and put in a dryer. Essentially they tortured her and her mother ignored it because she was in love with one of the men. What I find astounding about this case are the amount of neighbours who after her death said they had noticed strange things goign on and heard her screams yet did nothing to stop it from happening by either interjecting or reporting it to Child Youth and Family. If I knew that sort of behaviour was happening next door to me, I would report it to CYFS immediately.

Its such a sad thing when people hurt the innocent. i wish there was something we could do to stop people from hurting and killing their kids, i do not think there is enough in place for when things start to go wrong.
when my mum was in hospital after giving birth to my little sister there was a lady and her newborn in the room 3 doors down and she was really depressed, she let the baby cry all the time and didnt want to hold him. then in the night the crying just stopped. she had killed her son in the hospital and no one did a thing to stop it. she got arrested and charged but all the hospital staff new she wasnt coping, which is why they wondnt let her go home but nothing else was done to stop her from hurting and killing her 2 day old little boy.
I just wish that when people need help they would ask for it before it gets to bad. or if people can see that someone needs help they do something about it.
i agree that if someone was paying closer attention things like this story and yours could be averted..
