It is people's business. That's like saying well, it's a parents business to beat their kids if they want. They are forcing their child to breath in their smoke, and it's horrible. And frankly I don't need the "story" it doesn't matter what her problems are, what I care about is the baby. My mom hasn't been the best mom, but thank God the moment she found out she was pregnant she immediately quit smoking. And the same with my brother.

Yeah, Bexie, I've been thinking of this all day, too. It is interesting how discussions turn and take tangents. One of my gifts, or problems, is that I can very easily see both or many sides to an issue. I hate smoking and I hate pregnant women smoking even more. But the reason I commented on the "let's make it illegal"/government part is exactly what you last posted. If we give any gov't power, they will gladly take it and get more and impose their will on everyone and have no regard for individuals and families. I was thinking of all these examples, but yours like a diabetic mom will suffice. The thing is, which I believe is one of the main goals of life, is to govern yourself---well. It is very sad to think of everything wrong in life, but we need to all try to improve ourselves everyday. Michael sung it, huh? Change yourself to change the world. I would actually sort of like it if smoking was "banned" or "illegal", but not if that means the government has more control over everyone's lives. We will all live with our decisions and reap what we sow. I feel like my job here would be to just encourage everyone I know to not smoke, but I would never force that on anyone. I'd love to discuss more, but must go for now!

can i just say some of the problems that may happen if a woman smokes well she is pregnant there is
Increased risk of miscarriage
Increased risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
Premature birth
Low birth weight
Behavioral problems (i.e., hyperactivity)
Reduced verbal and mathematical ability

About 8 babies die each day from SIDS in the US alone
this is a problen that is too many babies loose each day so i say dont smoke if your pregnant
