The book I'm reading says no more sleeping on my back or well, doing anything (wink) flat on my back. Is that because it's bad for the baby or just because it's uncomfortable because of the large belly? It's not that uncomfortable for me and I'd rather sleep on my back than my side, do you think that's okay?

I never heard anything about it sometimes my back hurts so much i have to lie on my back to stretch it without it hurting to much i cant lie on my back for long anyway it hurts to much

as forthe sleeping onurback, if its comfortable, do it, i did with all 4 of mine, and kinda on my stomach too..

Yes sleeping on ur back is bad for u. There is a vain that runs down ur spine that get crushed and can cause long term problems for u or worse. I used to do the same and my doc adviced me on it, during my labour my back was killing me, so try to ease up on that sleep position. Sleeping on ur left side allows more oxygen to go to the baby.

My doctor also advised me not to sleep on my back because the weight of the baby cuts off cirrculation for both you and the baby. Other "activities" are fine on your back, just not for long periods of time.

I am a back sleeper so my doctor told me it was ok to use pillows to prop myself up so that I wasn't lying flat. But sleeping on your left side is best.
