Re:Stop giving your daughters male names! (1 viewing) (1) Guest
Re:Stop giving your daughters male names! By Celianne 2 Years, 10 Months Ago This is just my opinion, please don't get mad at me for it.
I see nothing wrong with naming your children whatever you want to name them. I've already picked out names for my kids, and they are a mix of unisex and girl's and boy's. I happen to love the names, I think that they are good names, so who is anyone to tell me I can't use them because a few of the girl's names were originally boy's names? You can go on and get angry about people using boy's names for girl's names. I understand where you're coming from. You are upset that your son is being teased because of his name, a name you were sure was a boy's name. But, seriously, who are you to tell someone that they're child can not be named that because you do not think it is appropriate for their gender? I have a girly name. Cecilia. But, that hasn't stopped me from keeping my hair in a boyish pixie. That hasn't stopped me from being a complete tomboy until highschool. I know a girl named Charlie, and that hasn't stopped her from being one of the prettiest girls in school. People often say, 'What's in a name?', Well, to tell the truth, there is nothing in a name. The name doesn't define the person, the person defines the name. It may have a core deffinition, and it will always mean the same thing to history, but when you meet someone with a name you don't look at that name in the same way before.

Re:Stop giving your daughters male names! By Emily_G 2 Years, 10 Months Ago I was thinking about this earlier....names are constantly evolving and changing.
The example I thought of was in the movie Gone with the Wind, one of the men is named Ashley...and male-dominated name that is now a female-dominated one. When women started to name their daughters Ashley, instead of their sons...some people probably thought that was ridiculous to give a girl a boy name. Now the roles are reveresed, no one names their sons Ashley. Hm, interesting.

Re:Stop giving your daughters male names! By MummaMac 2 Years, 10 Months Ago I think also that quite alot of the male names are feminime therefore they get picked up and changed around. I personally love feminime, feminime names for my own children but love masculine names for girls though wouldn't call my own those names.

By jrc016 2 Years, 10 Months Ago a name is a name. there are a million unisex names, Avery is good for a boy and a girl. the point is you chose THAT name for your little boy so who cares what other people say. My little girl cousin Vaida gets called Vaida Darth Vador all the time. And my friends little boy, Rhodes, gets called Rose all the time. I think boy names for little girls is adorable and I will follow the trend with Charlie, Taylor or Ryan if i have a little girl.

Re:Stop giving your daughters male names! By KenleyKupKake 2 Years, 10 Months Ago They aren't your daughters.
So, therefore don't worry about it?! There's an idea. && well, Avery may be an original male name. but things change over time... it's a unisex name. i like it, but personally for a girl.
