I'm due very soon (September 5th), and my husband and I are having the hardest time deciding on our second son's name. I think we have it narowed down to three first names:

Rye (A unique name my husband and I have always liked)
Noah (An incredible person from biblical times)
Asher (means happiness in Hebrew, we might use the nickname Ash)

So far we have gotten mixed reviews on Rye. Both grandma's pretty much don't like it. Lots of our friends really like it, as do we! Do you think we should go ahead, despite what they have to say?

Both grandma's vote for Noah. Our first son's name is Jakob, which was a family name. I like Noah, but when paired with Jakob makes me think our family would sound super religious (no offense if you are super religious, we are religious too. But we are also artsy, and want him to have a unique name)

As for middle names, we might do a combination of these names. Ex:

Rye Asher?
Asher Rye?
Noah Sage?
Noah Rye?

well as much as other poeple's oppinions (especially family) might mean to you it is ultimatly your decision i myself love all the names rye is unique and somethign you and your husband both agree on amazingly my husband and i cant agree on anything. rye asher is interesting but i dont think it goes together very well and something that would make everyone happy would possibly be nameing him rye noah its interesting but that way the grandma's can call him noah you can call him rye and everyone is happy and as he gets older he can choose to either be called naoh or rye hope i have helped but do remember its ultimatly your and your husbands decision you have to be happy with what you choose.

Noah Rye would probably be the best to suit urs and the grandmother's choices. BUT it doesn't sound well together, no offense.

Out of your choices, I like Noah the best. I've always loved Biblical-type names. Yes, Noah is a name that is religious-y, but Jakob isn't exactly. I mean, Jacob does play a fairly significant part of the Old Testament, but PLENTY of people have been named Jacob that aren't religious. Not to mention you have the different spelling. Anyway, I LOVE the name Noah, & I agree with the last person. If both you & your husband love the name Rye, name the kid Rye. I think that Rye is one of the names that older generations might not like, as it is a bit modern-y. So my suggestion is to go with Noah Rye. That sounds better to me than Rye Noah (it flows more easily) & it still gives you options on what he'll be called. & he can choose what his preferred name is when he is older.

I REALLY like Asher Rye.

what about the name kye?? the name rye kinda reminds me of bread.. i really like noah too but i agree with the whole super religious thing...
