Circumcise or not?
By mommyfaerie 2 Years, 9 Months Ago
Hey, my husband and I just had the debate come up as to whether we're going to circumcise our little boy or not. I thought that it didn't make enough of a difference, medically, to really matter whether we did or not, but he kinda wants to have it done. (partially because he is I think) We have no religious reason to do it, so it would be a decision based on benefits vs. risks to our baby.

I was just wondering if anyone knew the pluses and minuses to having it done, and how much of a difference it really makes. I'm still going to try to look things up about it on the internet in other places, but I just wanted opinions on it from other parents. Like why or why not you chose to have it done, or not done.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There is a huge list of pro's and cons but to name a few of each:

Pro's; greater sexual stimulation(supposedly), less infant discomfort, and less on the hospital bill.

Con's; greater risk of std and aids infection, you have to clean in there, and it looks like a worm in in a turtle neck.

If you do circumcise in my opinion it just looks better and there is less risk of uti cuz if you leave the skin and you forget to clean in there it gets gross. I'm having my son circumcised cuz worms in sweaters are not my deal.

I have not got any of my boys circumcized cos I believe that they are born with it so there must be a reason....

As for the sexual stimulation factor, every guy I have been with who has been circumcized wish they weren't because it can take them ages to climax because the head is always exposed compared to those who aren't, they prefer it that way.... Thats just from personal experience...
As for hygene etc.... If you teach your son the importance of hygene and how then I don't believe it is a problem at all...

Besides if they want it removed later on in life then that is something that they can choose to do themselves and they can't turn around and blame you for doing it to them as a baby

Thats just my opinion anyway

I know that there was a reason for the skin but I can't remember what the hell it was and I don't think that it applies anymore. but it is purely a visual and religous thing now.

LMFAO.... I don't think I have ever really known what it's function was for to be honest but I am such a wuss when it comes to my kids vacinations that to get my circumcized was just never going to happen... I have and always will use the excuse "They are born with it" and I'm sticking to it
