I agree with Emmy May, giving your child something that is considered not so healthy ONCE IN A WHILE is just fine. Making a habit like everyday is not okay. My daughter is one and weighs about 18 pounds, which is normal her doctor said and she has a good diet. And I don't keep junk food in the house because one, I'm trying to watch my weight seeing as how I'm pregnant, and for two, I don't want my children to be obsese, I don't want to start my children's life off with food that is going to kill them in the long run. Don't get me wrong, I do feed Mikahlean a cupcake, or cookie, or a piece of candy, but definitley not everyday, more like once a month. Since she hasn't had a lot of it, she doesn't really like it and it tends to upset her stomach it seems. I think those parents need to change thier childs diet, because that child is going to eat like that for the rest of it's life if something doesn't change. & clearly, it's not good.

Yeah, little junk food once in awhile is absolutely fine. But this kid is 36 pounds at the age of 24 or 26 months. It is definitely not from occasional intake of sugary or high calorie food. I wonder why my friend, who is a registered nurse, doesn't seem to find her friend's daughter to be over weight. It bothers me that this girl's weight is treated as a "good" quality by her mom and even my friend.

Update: The girl is actually 27 months old, and it turns out that she is pretty tall too. My friend said she is about the same size as another 4 year old girl. Her mom is also above average height, over 170cm. And her pediatrician said that she is underweight. But she looks nowhere near "underweight." =0=

27 months, 36 pounds is still pretty crazy. And "underweight" too?

My little girl is 36 pounds (16.36kg) and she is 2 1/2 but she is 98cm taller, much taller then average 3yr olds.
Its all depends on height.
