Re:How would you explain? By Auntieofsix 2 Years, 2 Months Ago Well my mam says she named me my name' Connie' because she just liked it, and my middle name 'Louise' is after my grand mother. My mam named my sisters for the same reason as she named me. But she gotmy brothers name 'Allan' of the radio, well she wanted to name him Ethan, but my dad didn't like it, so when they heard it on the radio they both said they liked it.They spelt it 'Allan', because of our welsh hertitage.
Well, I would say to my children that I liked their names of course. I like Kaeleb Mack for a boy, I like this because Kaeleb means Brave, and Mack in honour of my friends baby who is called Mackenzie, and also it short and cute and follows so good with Kaeleb. For a girl like Caitlin Jayde. I like this because Caitlin means pure, and I just like the name Jayde

Re:How would you explain? By ashleybrooke89 2 Years, 2 Months Ago I think that is a really good question. I LOVE names, but I do not really have any picked out for my future kids bc I change my mind alllll the time about what I like. I want something that me and my fiance both like, but I also want the names to be beautiful and have good meanings.
My name is Ashley Brooke---how unique, right? HAHA NOT!!!! I have asked my mom why she did not give me something with a more unique feel and a nice meaning. To her, it was not about the meaning, but about family. She named me Ashley because after 50 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchilden not 1 was named after my great grandma, Elsie Ashley. And then I came along! So, I will make sure that my children's names either have strong meanings or that they are named after someone that I love and look up to. My dad's middle name is Byron, so I would like for my first son's name to have Kyron in it. I want them to know that their names have meaning behind them and that I did not just choose them because they sounded cool. I mean come on, you are stuck with your name from the day you're born til the day you die, so it might as well be a nice, meaningful one, right?

QUOTE: I agree. Before I even asked my Mom how my name came about, I used to hate my name cause it was different and not many people could pronounce it. I first saw my name meaning online, and on some personalized name plate. My name means "God is my strength" or "Power of God". Then I started to like the meaning of my name only. However as I grew, I found that I did like my name, and even though it's a boy's name in some sites, I still love it But still it's true, I think if I just tell my kids that I liked the name, and thought it suited you, they should accept it.. Hopefully they're not gonna be persistent, and be like.. but why?? Of all names why this?? LOL!!

QUOTE: funny my daughter was 100% set on naming her baby this if it was a boy, but it was a girl. Yeah my childrens names I don't know the meaning, nor do I care what the meaning is. They got their names because I liked them. And both Lauren and James are family names on my husband side and the rest are names we liked and pleased the family so thats what they got, and they don't have any complaints. Except from Henry. He thinks he has a 'gay name' as he says. But I still love his name, Henry Thomas.

Re:How would you explain? By Tess 2 Years, 2 Months Ago HI Gabby!!!
Hi everyone!!! this is my first post in months. when I asked my mom the meaning of my names she said to me that when she named me she didn't looked for the meanings it was about family and keep the names in the family. so I have my grand-grandmother's name and my Grand-mother's name which is also one of my mother's names. for her was just to name her daughter after someone in the family and choose a name that her and my dad liked. my brother was the same, he has my dad and grand-dad's name. I'm now 19 and my brother is 16 and we love our names. I already have some ideas for my children's names. the names that I like are from people that I admire or like, also from tv/movies/books etc. I hear a name and I fall in love for him or I hate it, normally it's also because of the personality of the person. like someone said I also love the name Noah cause of the movie (the notebook). after all this I go and see the meaning of the name, but that's not the most important thing for me. the true meaning of the name is why I choose that particular one(s).the names will mean something to me. (if you know what I'm saying) so I just tell my kids that I liked the name or I admire/liked someone with that name and that they're named after he/she. don't worry Gabby your kids are gonna love their names.
