My son, Noah, turned 6 months on the 24th of this month (May 2010) which was under a week ago... and I keep having questions asking if he is crawling yet... Especially by a friend who has a nephew born the day before Noah... I'm thinking she may be comparing babies, which is irritating.

It's starting to annoy me, because the answer is no!

Most 6 month olds don't crawl yet, right? I have no idea...
When is considered the AVERAGE age to crawl, do you think??

every baby is different and they go at their own pace! my 7 year old crawled at a little over 7 months, my 4yo crawled right at 6 months, my 3yo was a 25w preemie and didnt crawl until almost 10 months, and my 11mo was a 29w preemie and started crawling at about 8 months...

My daughter didnt start crawling until she was a little over 8months.
My friends baby who was a month loder at the time was crawling at 4months old, and pulling himself up on stuff at 6months. All babies are differant, give him time. When he starts he wont stop lol

Every baby is different.

My 15 (nearly 16) month old cousin didn't start properly crawling until around 9 months. She would bum shuffle, she didn't like using her legs to move around, so she would stay on her bum and slide across the floor. She then didn't start fully walking until 13months.

Arhhh..., I know what you mean. There are so MANY parents and/or grand parents love comparing their babies. FYI, your child is COMPLETELY normal and adorable, no need to worry about it. It is very early for a child to properly crawl at the age of 6 months. There are early crawlers, but they are not always early walkers. Some babies crawl later but walk earlier than others. And every child is different, they all develop in their own pace. Let those people talk and brag if they want to compare, just know that your baby is unique and amazing in his own way.
