Savlon?? By Shann 1 Year, 11 Months Ago My son has mild eczema (apparently mild, hate to see severe!)
Would savlon antipeptic cream hurt it? He has it in his armpits, all around his head, under his nose, in and around his ears and on his torso. I've tried sorbolene cream for weeks with no luck.. and the doctor perscribed hydrocortisone cream, but that has run out and she believes he only needs sorbolene. I thought the savlon antiseptic cream may help prevent and scabbing or infection... Any advice from experience?? As I've read on the internet and just want to hear people's personal experiences, Please! He is teething and itching at the same time! lol Thanks in advance, Shann xx

Re:Savlon?? By emily. 1 Year, 11 Months Ago I used to break out in eczema as chlorine used to affect me at our local pool, and mum used savlon. It cleared it up. She also used it on my brother with nappy rash.
I would give it a go, if it hasn't cleared or made it any better in 3-5 days I would go back to the doctor.

Re:Savlon?? By Celianne 1 Year, 11 Months Ago if you go to a pool with him, put vasaline on where he has it. I've had eczema since birth as well, on my eyelids and occasionally around my mouth and on my leg. don't let him scratch, use cetaphil soap or something else very gentle.
I use Elidel cream, it's like a hundred bucks a tube, but it WORKS, and you don't need a lot. I don't know if it's good for babies though. It's made my skin heat up about fifteen minutes after putting it on if I use too much. I haven't had any problems in a few months. Put whatever cream you use on him every night and morning, and if he scratches, try to distract him. scratching only makes it worse, and it takes longer for it to go away. if he does end up scabbing, just use neosporin or the store brand stuff and it should help with healing. Many dermatologists will tell you that he'll grow out of it, but I've never known someone who has. Including me.

Re:Savlon?? By mountainmomma 1 Year, 11 Months Ago I would suggest taking him in to the Walk In - he may have a yeast infection or allergies. Def something I would have a professional check out, rather than get random comments from women you don't know, or maybe men wearing diapers,

Re:Savlon?? By Shann 1 Year, 11 Months Ago The Doctor already said it was eczema, I'd never diagnose him myself?
