By injesuschristalone 4 Years, 1 Month Ago My first child, David, is going to start 1st grade in Fall 2008. I am seriously considering homeschooling. If not that then private. What do you think about this issue?

By Nadia 4 Years, 1 Month Ago i think public school is the best choice. in college i had a roommate who was homeschooled and was seriously socialy disturbed, also unless you live in the deepest worst scarriest ghetto public schools are great! i went to public school and went to Harvard so yeah. one other thing private school sometimes arent so fair! just my opinon though =)

Re:Homeschool, public, private?! By happy2bme 4 Years, 1 Month Ago I think homeschooling works for some, but is not for everyone. I taught 1st grade for 5 years before resigning to stay home with my baby. I once had a little girl who was homeschooled in kindergarten, but her mother did not do what she was supposed to do, so she was so far behind that she could not pass first grade and ended up failing. She also had trouble socially. On the other hand, I have a friend who homeschools her 3 girls (the oldest is 10), and does a good job. They are well-rounded kids, their father is a preacher so they are involved in church activities and they play softball, so they are around other kids. There are also other mothers in their community who homeschool, so they can get together at times and go on "field trips" and such. They live in an area where you would not want to send your child to public school. So I think it depends on those factors. I personally do not like the idea of homeschool, for one reason, when my child gets into the older grades I know I am not qualified to teach him the more advanced subjects like algebra and chemistry. If I didn't want to send him to public school, I would rather send him to a private school before homeschooling; I just think it's good for them to be around other kids in school. But different people have different opinions, too.

By kels 4 Years, 1 Month Ago Hey! I have been homeschooled and have been in a Christian school as well. I love both! Homeschooling is great because you can sleep later and you get to work at your own pace so you don't have homework. And you also have more free time since you get done earlier. But I love Christian school as well because of friends and sports. Plus it's a great Christian influence. You should do what you think is best.
