My son is 8 months old on the 24th july and he still takes a dummy recommended for birth - 3 months. He refuses to take any other dummy. Should this be ok?

It should be fine. Most babies become attached to a certain brand or size. Ifs its what he is comfortable with then he should b ok. Im no expert tho so u might want to ask a doctor or even a dentist as thats the only problem i could see would be was with his teeth!
Goodluck.

I talked to my public health nurse about this and it really depends on how much he uses it. It's not good if he uses it a lot 'cuz the inside of his mouth will form to the shape of the soother. It can really have an effect on how his teeth grow in.

If he's got teeth, I'd be afraid he could bite the little soother and choke. My children didn't use soothers but John threw his bottle away around 12 months and my daughters bottle got "taken by the bunnies" in the garden. I have no idea why they took it but that's the story we're sticking to. Just gradually take it away more and more and re-direct each time he whines.
