crawling...
By a7xgrrlx427 1 Year, 10 Months Ago
My son is almost 10 months old and just refuses to crawl. If I lay him on his tummy he immediately starts to cry. If I just leave him there he'll push up on his arms but can't seem to get his legs up in the right position and just continues to cry. I just don't know what to do to help him figure out this crawling thing. My daughter didn't crawl either, she was the same way but she learned to scoot as a way to get around. But he shows no interest in moving about the house what so ever. He is completely content on just sitting there in one spot playing with his toys. I would love some advice on this if ya'll have any thank you!!!

Try lifting his hips so his knees are under him and see where he goes from there.

I posted this in another message and just copy pasted it into here. Hope it helps:

My daughter didn't crawl until ll months. We were also worried about her and had her evaluated to see if there was something wrong with her. There wasn't anything wrong which was good to know, put our minds at ease. But the evaluator just gave us some tips for encouraging her to crawl.

If you have a poppy pillow or you can just use you leg, put him on his tummy with his arms on one side of the pillow or leg and his legs on the other. This just gets him used to being in that position. Make it fun for him so he will want to do it on his own. Place lot of toys just out of his reach while he is sitting up or on his tummy. He may get frustrated but his brain will be a working on how to get those toys and he will figure it out. This is what finally worked for my daughter. We had a light up pen that she wanted so bad she could taste it. Leave him alone or get out of his range of sight, babies do amazing things when they think you're not watching.

My daughter learned to crawl backward before she leaned to crawl forward. She would sit on her hands and knees staring at that light up pen and there was almost smoke coming out of her ears she was thinking so hard. And then she would go backwards and end up sitting on her butt and she would get so mad.

Oh, these are some of my best memories.

We also got a tip for encourging her to stand because she didn't do that either. But it is important to wait until he learns to crawl before you show him the stand-up thing or he might skip the crawling.

Sit on the floor and sit him on your leg with his feet flat on the floor. use your hands to apply pressure to his knees so he can feel the pressure of his feet on the floor and then let him grab your fingers to stand. We did this once with Morgann and she stood up the very first time just holding on to my fingers.

Hope this helps.
